I'm falling down into my shadow

Don't scary

See you in your dreams
Yeah, baby

Fairy blue
When you're lost "here"
I am "forever" with your soul

Your destiny

Fairy blue
I will find you my dear!

Fairy blue

Fairy blue
When you're lost "here"
I am "forever" with your soul

    My Interpretation

This song is such banger! I always listen to it whenever everything seems hopeless. And I believe that this song it about overcoming fear. And here’s how I know. Here’s are the lyrics to Papermoon in English:

Verse 1: I’m Falling Down Into My Shadow Holding in my every breath As I await the Deadly Night Don’t Scary ‘Cause you can’t give into this Fear of pumpkin carriages And all the witches see it in your eyes

Pre-Chorus: See you in your dreams Yeah Baby Your nightmares too, that’s where I’ll find you

Chorus: Fairy Blue you know it’s all for you I would shatter the stars above And display them high with my Black Paper Moon If you truly put your faith in me! When You’re Lost “Here” I am... “Forever” With Your Soul

Post-Chorus: Waiting high above you patiently Like a paper moon

Verse 2: Into the sky rises a symbol of every single hope and dream Now all the stars are blood red Your destiny if you wish for it to be It could be what you desire Your vision could become your entire world

Pre-Chorus: Quit playing all the games, baby Make no mistake, now I cannot break

Chorus: Fairy Blue you mean so much to me, for the rest of my life I’ll be in captivity ‘till you call me, Captivated by your blinding light, I will find you, my dear Wherever you might be

Post-Chorus: Free you from the curse ensnaring you, then you and me can fly away

Bridge: You have to believe me that I believe in you No matter how many times They bring me down I hear all the reverbs of words that you told me Now you and me, are destiny now

Chorus: Fairy Blue You know it’s all for you I would shatter the stars above And display them high with my Black paper moon If you truly put your faith in me! When You’re Lost “Here” I am... “Forever” With Your Soul and

Chorus: Fairy Blue you mean so much to me, for the rest of my life I’ll be in captivity ‘till you call me, Captivated by your blinding light, When You’re Lost “Here” I am... “Forever” With Your Soul

Post-Chorus: Waiting high above you patiently Like a paper moon

Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; and this song is a message to his fans & friends saying he knows it. It's painful to listen to so I'm glad the "Keith Richards of industrial metals" wised up and cleaned up. Well done sir.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Head > Heels
Ed Sheeran
“Head > Heels” is a track that aims to capture what it feels like to experience romance that exceeds expectations. Ed Sheeran dedicates his album outro to a lover who has blessed him with a unique experience that he seeks to describe through the song’s nuanced lyrics.
