Powderfinger – Sail The Wildest Stretch Lyrics 12 years ago
In an increasingly narcissist vain world, where looks count or set the paradigm for a westerners' operational mood & status (aka 'the illusions you made' lyric line in this Sail The Wildest Stretch titled track), this song hits a 'wider conciousness wavelength alpha benchmark'.

The song is now a single, so steeped in 'I can hear & feel the emotion; that it feels like it is speaking to me' - traits that are typical of other ballad anthems Powderfinger have released & specialised in.

It's such a shame Bernard Fanning & band haven't reached a spectre & element of the superstardom reached by their 'musical genre compatriots' in Coldplay. Maybe that's why they broke up, no mass scale wider recognition & record company reward for effort & awe inspiring music.

Crowded House – Elephants Lyrics 12 years ago
'Make waves' is not a State Of Fear/Michael Crichton conspiracy, far from it. I believe Neil Finn is inferring brain wavelengths humans make in the Alpha & Beta ranges. From my understanding, the more waves or lengths, & smoother plus stable; the better/sweeter/enlightening/purifying/cleansing the REM 'dreams' we permeate at night we all can have.

David Gray – Silver Lining Lyrics 12 years ago
There's at least some ready to light fire and revolutionary 'social commentary' passion in this song. Yes, the instrumentation is chilling, relaxing and sonic. But the lyrics have venom. I feel David Gray is feeling isolated and lonely at the world; its eerie dark SNOBBISH UNCARING $ELFISH silences of Western Suburbia, night after night & aeon upon aeon. We yearn with him to recapture the innocence & untainted hope of childhood & ''wild'' birth, now marred in adulthood (even tainted teenage years) by the rat race STUCK UP a$$ pursuits of modern capitalism. Definitely hints of John Lennon, so go DG!

'...never noticing the war
until it's right there at your door...'

'...hold on to nothing
so write it down...'

Crowded House – People Are Like Suns Lyrics 12 years ago
Life so transient. Full of anger. But that passes. Just like life and death. Technology and science creates so much aesthetics. So easy to be swayed by this beauty and revert to primal hedonism. Maybe ''love'' is inverted ''evol''-ution after all? Maybe that will save us? Not having money or many sexy partners. I feel that is what Neil Finn is expressing here.

Suns, like everything (ala The Gaia Hypothesis) can be correlated back to people (anything can be linked ala '''Seven Degrees Of Separation''' in life, the universe and everything). We/others/the inanimate all burn up: from happiness, love, joy, sorrow and pain. So many have died in wars or genocide, or even cancer, obesity and more mundane causes...ala 'they come and go in a blink of an eye'.

Is there a purpose or design, like the Final Destination films to it all? Quite loudly chaotic: all these puns, claims, counter-claims, newspapers, articles, magazines, books, Wikipedia and social media vitriol. In the end, we make sense of it in our own way. Little use trying to relate it to others innate and individual (probably different) wiring.

Please me with your promises, hurt me with your lies...baby can you hear the message that I'm sending? LOVE ME LIKE THE WORLD IS ENDING - BL.

Neil Finn – Loose Tongue Lyrics 12 years ago
Remember my loose tongue
Forget what I just said
I'll crawl over broken glass
If we could start again
Before our plans were made
When the world was young
The house was falling down
Because of my loose tongue

I shouldn't say so much
I shouldn't talk so loud
It's sooner on your lips
And it's all over town
In all our given days
How many gone to waste
A good man has been hung
Because of my loose tongue

Your skin is changing it's hue
Your god is coming down fast
Looks like someone I knew
Uncovered happiness at last

And all the wagging tongues
Too much information
In the future now
Under massive doubt
The papers on the street
Get trampled under feet
And they settle for a princely sum

Good will is coming down
And when it rains
Your well is full

You shouldn't ask me, you shouldn't ask me,
If you want the real story, you shouldn't ask me,
You better find someone else to get the house key,
You've no admission to his personal life,
You know the mans walking on the edge of a knife,

You tail's getting longer, Your nose keeps growing,
And after some time you forget what you're knowing,
Had a fleeting encounter with a psycho sycophant,
And now he's feeling like a kicked out tin can,
You've got the poor man nailed to the floor,
But that's not enough and you want a bit more.

He's only halfway through his life
He's only used up all his time

As per Nonlinear314's post on 07-12-2006, I've always heard Thom sing 'ORWELLIAN flip-flop' in this song. If you can't hear it, you're in denial we don't live in a %ick %urveillance '1984' state/media controlled society. I left out business there, cos they are the bridge & medium to destroy the state & media.
